This is the user page of Alisdair ("Al") Boraston. I am a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Victoria, Victoria, Canada. I obtained by PhD working on carbohydrate-binding modules (CBMs - at the time they were cellulose-binding domains) under Dr. Douglas Kilburn and Dr. Tony Warren at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. After a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada funded post-doctoral fellowship with Dr. Gideon Davies in the YSBL at the University of York, UK, where I worked on the structures of CBMs and glycoside hydrolases (GHs), I returned to my hometown of Victoria to take up my current position.
