After completing graduate studies at the University of Waterloo in the Department of Biology, Darryl joined the group of Dr. ^^^ Wade Abbott^^^ at the Agriculture and Agri-Food CanadaLethbridge Research and Development Centre. As a member of Dr. Abbott's research team Darryl has been engaged in the identification and characterization of CAZymes from the intestinal microbiome, and the development of technologies involving carbohydrate modification for agricultural and intestinal health applications.

Darryl has contributed to studies of CAZymes from the following families:

Glycoside Hydrolases

  • GH39 from Neocallimastrix frontalis and Piromyces rhizinflatus [1].

Polysaccharide Lyases

  • PL2 from Yersinia enterocolitica and Vibrio vulnificus [2].
