This page lists all the Carbohydrate Binding Module (CBM) Family pages in CAZypedia that have been given Curator Approved status, as well as those that are currently under construction.

Note (May 2013): We are just beginning to develop individual CBM pages in CAZypedia, although a long-term goal is to have complete coverage of all of the CBM families represented in the CAZy database. This effort is being led by ^^^Alicia Lammerts van Bueren^^^, together with theSenior Curators. Overview

Carbohydrate-binding modules (CBMs) are non-catalytic proteins with the capacity to bind to soluble and crystalline carbohydrates. CBMs are typically found within a longer protein sequence, co-occurring with catalytic modules of carbohydrate active enzymes, e.g. Glycoside Hydrolases and Polysaccharide Lyases, where they serve to enhance the catalytic activity of the enzymatic module(s) [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6].
